Church School
St. Paul’s Church School
Our church has an active Sunday School. During the Sunday service, classes are held for students of all ages. There is a childcare room for children under the age of three, Sunday School classes for grades preschool to six, and a Youth Group for students in middle school and high school. We also offer special classes for Early Communion and Confirmation.
In September, the church school year begins with Registration Sunday.
In October, the Youth Group plans a Halloween party for the children of the parish.
In November, the students collect baby food for the needy. They bring it to the altar on the same Sunday that adults bring forward their pledge cards. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the students bring fruit to church. The older students use this fruit to fill the Thanksgiving Baskets that they make for the homebound parishioners. Adults in the parish deliver these baskets.
In December, the students make ornaments for the Jesse Tree and receive a visit from St. Nicholas. The Sunday before Christmas, the students put on a wonderful pageant. They wear beautiful costumes, and the shepherds carry live lambs. The pageant is followed by “The Birthday of the Christ Child”. Everyone enjoys cake and refreshments and joins in the singing of Christmas carols.
Spring Events are planned around the celebration of Easter. During Lent, the students use “mite” boxes to collect money for the needy. These boxes are returned to church on the Sunday after Easter. This Sunday is called Children’s Sunday.
First Communion is always the Sunday before Palm Sunday.
In June, Sunday School ends and plans are made for Vacation Bible School.
Vacation Bible School is held during the summer. It lasts one week. Each year the theme changes but there are always Bible stories, games, crafts, and music.
